Members of the Lutheran High School
Northwest Drama Department performed the Broadway musical Oklahoma!
at the school’s performing-arts auditorium located on Livernois Avenue
between Auburn and Hamlin Roads in Rochester Hills on May 4, 5, and 6,
2006.
Show time was 7:30 P.M.
The 1943 Rodgers and Hammerstein
classic tells the romantic and humorous story of Oklahoma Territory
farmers and cowhands as they battle for statehood and with each other.
Show tunes include the hits “Oh What a Beautiful Mornin’”, “Surrey With
the Fringe on Top”, “Girl Who Can’t Say No”, “Everything’s Up To Date in
Kansas City”, “ People Will Say We’re in Love”, “Oklahoma!”. The original Broadway production broke all previous attendance
records and ran for 2,212 performances.
The production was directed by
Lutheran High School Northwest educators Elizabeth Davis and Connie
Keller and choreographed by Jennifer Pierson.
Music was performed by Northwest
students and volunteer musicians from the North Oakland Community Band,
Southfield Philharmonic Orchestra and the St. John Lutheran Church
Orchestra under the direction of school Band Director Brian Pollatz.
