Physical Education 9/10

Grades 9, 10                             Required                                                                       1 semesters

Emphasis in this class will be on physical fitness and the development of coordination.  The activities are team oriented.  Fundamental skills and strategies are stressed.  All activities are designed to develop an appreciation of the body as a gift of God.  Softball, volleyball, football, basketball, soccer, speedball, floor hockey, aerobics and recreational games are offered.   Physical fitness and body development are charted.

Team/Individual Sports 9/10

Grades 9, 10                             Prerequisite: None                                                         2 semesters

1st Semester

This sophomore level class will continue to emphasize team sports along with the addition of some individual activities.  Students will participate in activities such as: badminton, gymnastics, weight lifting, fitness, floor hockey, and flag football.

2nd Semester

This sophomore level class will give the students more choices of team and individual activities.  Students will participate in track and field, wrestling, lacrosse, basketball, and others.

Lifetime Sports

Grades 11, 12                           Prerequisite: None                                                         2 semesters

This coed class will be participating in activities that can be continued throughout life.  There will be a strong emphasis on physical fitness in this class.  Students will be required to take notes at times and be tested on some basic aspects of physical training and the effects on the body.  Activities will include aerobic training (jogging, aerobics and in-line skating), tumbling, flexibility and agility exercises). : intensive weight training, softball, golf and volleyball.

Personal Fitness

Grades 11, 12                           Prerequisite: None                                                         2 semesters

This upper level class is an intense study of the muscles of the body.  Physical training, including weight lifting and aerobic exercise are a daily part of this class.

Health

Grade 9, 10                               Required                                                                       1 semester

This course is planned to help students understand human development.  The class explores personal decision-making and examines the impact of the environment on life style.  Unit topics, taught from a Christian perspective, will include personal relationships, alcohol, drugs, emotional health, foods and smoking.
